Ever since I started blogging, a couple of friends introduced me to Darren Rowse at ProBlogger.net. He’s a Pro Blogger from Melbourne, Australia, and he even made Forbes’ Web Celebrity List in 2007, so you could say that he’s a famous professional blogger. A professional blogger is someone who makes their living from blogging (ie. they blog full-time). After checking out some of his posts and researching more on what blogginw as all about, I subscribed to his ProBlogger and DPS (Digital Photography School) RSS feeds, and have been reading his stuff over the past year or so (and have since started up my own blogs as well). If you aspire to become a professional blogger, Darren is definitely someone you would want to emulate (if at all possible), or at least learn from – and he does provide a lot of tips and resources.
Recently, Darren started up a new forum called the ProBlogger Community, geared towards becoming a community for bloggers aiming to also become pro bloggers (or at least delve more seriously into their blogging).

This isn’t a free forum, but it definitely doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to join either. For a limited time, Darren is offering access to the forum for $1.95/month (which works out to be $23.40/year, and you can cancel any time), paid for via a PayPal subscription… it couldn’t get any easier than that! Part of the reason for the fee is to pay for the staffing required to manage the forum itself (for a higher quality of management), and also to ward off any spammers or self-promoters (and encourage people who truly want to be a part of the forum and contribute). This makes absolute sense to me, and in my opinion, he has succeeded because the quality of this forum is incomparable to any other forum in which I’ve participated. I’m usually the lurking type, and will only post something when I absolutely have to, but after joining the forum, there was already such an awesome spirit of community and comradary present that I just couldn’t help but join in the conversations!
Let me assure you that I’m not writing about this forum because anyone has asked me to – I’m writing about it to share an awesome resource and encourage people who want to take their blogging to the next level to join. Historically, if you look at my blog and when I post, it’s been pretty sporadic (my life gets really busy sometimes and my blogging takes a back seat), but this is my second post this week! For me, that’s unheard of, and it is a testament to how this community has inspired me to get my focus and determination back for my blogging!
Last week, Darren asked us (in the forum) to post a brief “testimonial” statement about the community, and I feel honored to have been featured in his post, 6 Reasons to Join the ProBlogger.com Community. He only posted 6 comments, and I was one of the lucky 6 with the following statement:
“After recently rebranding my blog and website, I’ve felt as if my blogging attempts have been floundering, and with no support and no one to lean on, I’ve had difficulty finding the inspiration and focus to write. Since joining the ProBlogger Community just a few days ago, I now feel like I’m part of a family who has already supported, encouraged, and helped me to get my focus and determination back! Thanks for creating this community, Darren – I’m truly excited to see it evolve in the coming months!” – Ursula Comeau from UCWebCreations.com
I am very excited to see where this forum is headed, and am ecstatic to be a part of it! Part of my business is to help bloggers get a professional-looking, self-hosted WordPress blog (or site/blog combination) up and running, and I also try to share valuable resources whenever I find them through my blog posts.
If you are someone who wants to become a little more serious about blogging and you already have a blog, go join the community – the support you’ll receive is amazing!
If you don’t have a blog yet, but would like to set one up (or would like your current blog redesigned), contact me! I can help you get up and running for a reasonable and affordable fee, or if you would like to start off with a basic blog and maybe build on it later on, I recommend registering (for free) at WordPress.com.
Happy Blogging, and I will hopefully see you in the forum!
