The Beginner’s Guide to Web Design with WordPress at Learnable

Learnable It’s been rather quiet here in the UC Web Creations blog, but that’s because I’ve been so busy with several web design projects as well as a project of my own: a beginner’s WordPress course!

Introducing my new course, “The Beginner’s Guide to Web Design with WordPress”, offered exclusively at Learnable.com.

In the past few months, I’ve been lucky enough to be one of the first 60 instructors to offer a course on Learnable.com! At Learnable, you can be a student, instructor, or both!

As a student, you can take courses that will teach you:

  • in bit-size chunks
  • at your own pace
  • in your own time

As an instructor, you can create your own course and sell it using the user-friendly Learnable platform!

Being as I’m a self-taught WordPress fanatic web designer, I know exactly what it’s like to start learning this stuff from scratch, so I thought back to when I first started dabbling in web design with WordPress, and how I scoured the internet for information on what I needed to learn to actually start designing websites. My journey started for a need to be able to design my own sites and not depend on basic and inflexible templates for my music site, Tathiana.com, which I’ve had since 2003. I was tired over over-paying for a basic site, and then my friend, Frances Palaschuk introduced me to WordPress, and it all went downhill… err, uphill from there!

I’m very passionate about the WordPress platform, in case you haven’t already noticed this, because of it’s easy to use, it’s scalable, additional functionality can be easily added with plugins, and most importantly: it’s an open-source platform, so it’s free! I work exclusively with this platform because I think it’s the best CMS available, and it powers more than 8% of all the websites on the internet! Is it any wonder that WordPress is worth checking out?

It has also enabled me to start doing freelance work and earn a small income on the side, in addition to creating a deep desire within me to start my own business in web design and social media marketing – an interest that I probably would’ve laughed at 10 years ago. I would never have imagined myself having the ability to create websites that look even half as nice as the ones I’ve been able to create with WordPress!

I decided to share my knowledge through this course, and it is a beginner’s course, so it covers fundamental concepts to get your started. Eventually, I’d like to create more advanced courses, and expand on different topics, but I thought this would be a good start – I’m sure there are others out there who, like me, would love to be able to figure out how to design and maintain their own websites, and perhaps even start earning some income from the skills your learn in order to just that: design and maintain your own site!

If this sounds like you, then please, don’t wait any longer! It’s a very affordable course – only a one-time payment of $29.95 USD, which will give you access to the course for one year. Go check it out, and I hope to see you there, asking questions in the awesome Learnable course Q&A area! I will try to answer all questions to the best of my knowledge, but if I don’t know, my clients can attest to the fact that I’m extremely resourceful, and will likely be able to find the answer!

I hope to see you at Learnable.com!
